This hairpin was forged by hand in sterling silver, not cast, not molded. Only silver, a hammer, and fire. Every curve, mark, and line is the result of patient strikes and slow heat, shaped by hand from raw metal into something meant to be worn and used.
Its shape is inspired by a völva staff found in Fuldby, Denmark, a powerful symbol tied to the mysterious women of the Viking Age known as völvas. These were not ordinary figures. Völvas walked between worlds, seeresses, spell-workers, carriers of forgotten knowledge. They were feared, respected, sometimes even buried with their staffs as if those tools carried their magic beyond death. Some believe the staff was more than an object; it was a link to the invisible, a sign of their right to speak with the unseen, to bend fate, or to see ahead where others could not.
At 21.5 cm (about 8.5 inches), this hairpin echoes the form and weight of something ceremonial, but made wearable, a piece of living history that invites a quiet strength. It’s subtle, but it carries presence.
Whether you're drawn to Norse traditions, witchcraft, or simply the deep roots of our shared past, this piece is meant for you. It's not just an accessory — it’s a small heirloom of myth and fire.
