This bead is entirely handmade in fine silver (999), with no molding, casting, or modern shortcuts. It is a one-of-a-kind replica of a Viking bead found in Gotland, Sweden, now held in the collection of the Swedish History Museum.
To make this bead, I began by pressing a fine silver sheet into a hand-carved mold to shape the two halves. These were then carefully soldered together. The beaded wire was made entirely by hand using traditional methods and applied individually to the surface, just as it would have been in the Viking Age.
The finished bead measures 28 mm long (about 1.1 inches).
I reproduced the piece as faithfully as possible, using the same historical techniques. It is a unique, historically accurate object, made entirely by hand.
