This necklace is entirely handmade, with no molding or casting involved—every detail is shaped, cut, and assembled by hand. Inspired by a Roman gold padlock found in Germany, this version is slightly larger than the original but remains faithful to its intricate design.
The centerpiece is a meticulously crafted box lock, adorned with delicate hand-cut silver cutouts. It functions just like the historical piece it replicates, opening and closing with a small silver key. The necklace chain is made of individually hand-cut rectangular links, each carefully shaped and assembled to create a fluid, comfortable fit that sits naturally around the neck.
This piece required an immense amount of time and precision, with every element demanding careful craftsmanship. The lock alone, with its moving parts, cutouts, and functional mechanism, took countless hours of detailed work to perfect. The chain, made link by link, adds to the painstaking nature of this creation. To wear it, simply slide the chain through the lock, close it, and secure it in place—a result of intensive labor and dedication to historical accuracy.
