Gallic Wheel
Gallic Wheel
This item is a finely crafted replica of a Gallic wheel, made from pure silver. Gallic wheels, also known as "rouelles," are ancient artifacts dating back to the Iron Age, often associated with the Celtic tribes of Gaul. These small, circular objects were typically used as amulets or offerings and hold significant historical value.
To create this replica, we begin by forging a silver ingot into a thin wire using a drawplate, a tool with progressively smaller holes that shapes the metal as it is pulled through. Once the wire is formed, it is transformed into beaded wire using a beading file, a specialized tool resembling a knife with a U-shaped groove. This tool is rolled along the wire to form evenly spaced beads. Finally, the beaded wire is expertly soldered to form the intricate design of the Gallic wheel.
