This pendant is a faithful reproduction of a 7th-century Vendel period piece found in Uppsala, Sweden. Every detail follows the original, from its proportions to the techniques used in its making. The only difference is in the materials: where the original was gold, this version is gold-plated sterling silver, paired with natural garnets cut to the same flat slab form as the archaeological find.
The garnets are set over patterned foil in gold-plated silver, giving them a warm internal glow as light catches beneath the surface. The outer edge is bordered by beaded wire, made entirely by hand, bead after bead. The bail carries a stamped motif from a custom-made die and is framed with the same beaded finish.
No part of this piece is cast or machine-made. Every element is cut, formed, and assembled by hand, just as it would have been in the 7th century.
