Handcrafted in fine silver, this pendant is inspired by the iconic "Ephesian bee" from ancient coinage.
Made using the traditional bracteate technique, the pendant is formed from a very thin sheet of silver, stamped with a hand-engraved die. The bee motif is pressed into the surface using a handmade stamping process. A fine beaded wire rim, also shaped and soldered by hand, frames the design.
The bee was a sacred symbol of Ephesus, an ancient Greek city in Asia Minor, closely linked to the worship of Artemis. It appeared on coins struck as early as the 6th century BCE and symbolized industriousness, order, and divine connection.
Diameter: 21 mm (approximately 0.83 inches)
Each piece is individually made, with slight variations due to the handmade process.
